He checked around from his windowpane seat close to the back of the jet and puzzled over , "What is going on ?"
He attempted the jet front door . It had been properly locked .
He told CNN affiliate KTRK that he called his lover , and she presumed he was kidding , or perhaps ridiculous .
She called United Airlines and about half an hour later , the front door opened up .
"I was coming from Louisiana to see my sister in California . We had a layover in Texas ," Wagner told the station . "I merely took my hat off and I took a rest ."
